| Q: JSG |
How old were you when you began developing
computer games or programs? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Ahh... let's see, first game I ever coded was a RISK clone I did in Basic while I attended high school. I was 14 years old. |
| Q: JSG |
What inspired you to make games? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Well, I like to play games. However, I could never find *the* game I wanted to play... There's always at least a little something in games that I hate. I was always like this: this game would be terrific if it wasn't for... ;) |
| Q: Paioroka |
What games did you participate in before you
turned your efforts to developing MK and SK, and did they have any
influence on the style of these games? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Okay, as I said, there's that RISK clone I worked on. However, my puny programing skills did not allow me to finish it. Or maybe it was that I couldn't cope with GWBasic anymore? Anyway... :) Then, I wrote a few demo for training. Just cool stuff with no real purpose or usefulness... After MK for DOS, Mario and I attempted to create an adventure game (fast action horizontal scrolling) called SilverStorm. The engine was nearly complete but we couldn't find the artists required to finish the game... |
| Q: Thanatos |
What has been the most difficult thing about
developing StarKnights? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
The shear size of it!! The game's so huge..! Let's face it, it's a 3 games in one! The real-time combats, the trade, the empire management, the multi-player and team play features... |
| Q: C17GMaster |
How many hours a day do you spend at work? Playing a game with the deliberate
intent of testing a certain bug counts, but joining a game just to
knock some heads doesn't. |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Well, it depends. It depends on the work, how I feel, the weather... :) But on average, I'd say quite a lot. So usually, I don't spend much time in front of the computer when I'm not working. Over the last months, I think I've been too fed up with computers to play other video games! With SK, I always join games with the intention of kicking some butts, but then I find a glitch and I save the game for local testing... :) |
| Q: Horkdoom |
What is your favorite character type and what
does your favorite fleet consist of? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Ahh! The Navigator, of course! A Son of Magellan :) I'm a pacifist at heart, my playing style is not very agressive. I like to scout and discover. I make an attack only when I think I'll win it. Right now, my favorite fleet (but not the most effective one) includes a StarRover and Stinger-B's with twin light cannons :). Boy do I like those nasty birds! |
| Q: BTM |
What new features are you planning on putting in
the game soon? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
Right now, what's missing most is the local campaign for local play. The next big feature I'd like to add is an ordering mechanism for freighters. |
| Q: Thanatos |
There are a lot of rumors about resetting the
experience points back to zero when the final release comes out.
Will this happen, and if so, will you keep the Beta HoF on your web
site? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
I don't know yet. But if we do, yes, we'll keep the Beta HoF preciously somewhere :) |
| Q: Thanatos |
Based on your experience and the speed at which
you are moving now, when do you estimate the final release to be
ready to the public? |
|
|
| A: Skyven |
LOTS of things happened over the last months that forced us to push the release date... But now I can't think of anything else that hasn't already happened. :) So I think my estimate of releasing a v1.0 for November. |
| To all the players of StarKnights: |

Thank you for your loyal support. I really appreciate it. ;) |
